

Carl D. Graves, 59, of Davenport, formerly of Buffalo, Iowa, passed away December 13, 2015, surrounded by his family. Per his request, there will be no formal visitation or service. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to Hope Lodge in Iowa City. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rungemortuary.com.
Carl was born May 2, 1956 in Grundy Center, Iowa, the son of Donald and Marian (Stumberg) Graves. He discovered his passion for Alaska during his service in the U.S. Army. He continued his travels in the U.S. with Nancy Janecek whom he married on June 29, 1985 at his parent’s home in Buffalo.
He was employed by Linwood Mining and Mineral and was a proud union member of Local 309. He spent his life being a devoted son, caring brother and loving husband and father. His greatest joy in life was being a proud “Boppa” to his six grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy and children Christopher (Kasandra Merrill), Jacob (Danielle) Graves and Mallory (Robert) Bartleson; six grandchildren: Samuel, Sylvia, Nora, Liam, Audrey and Lucy; and a sister, Nancy Roe. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Donna Petersen.
