

Cremation rites will be accorded. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made in Carl’s name to the American Heart Association.
Carl was born on January 30, 1940, in Danvers, IL. His fondest childhood memories took place on the family farm, lovingly nicknamed “Swannie Hill”. Carl served his country by enlisting in the United States Marine Corps from 1958-1961. He retired from Morton Buildings after over 20 years of employment.
Carl volunteered for 25 years for the Prairie Air Show. He was a member of the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed spending time with his childhood best friend and his family on their farm. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed a cup of coffee and a cigarette. Carl will be remembered for his sense of humor, his patriotism, and his tough nature.
Those surviving to honor his memory include his children, Glen Swanson, of Texas, Jerad (Amy) Swanson, Jennifer Swanson, Shannon (Mike) Gustafson, and Erin (Jon) Cook; his grandchildren, Chris (Jamie) Swanson, Bret Swanson, Kaigan Swanson, Brody Swanson, Mac Cook, Braden Cook, Riley Cook, Rachel Gustafson, Sydney Gustafson, and Bailey Gustafson; one great-grandchild, C.J. Swanson; and a sister, Mary Radcliff of Danvers, IL.
