Carletta M. Campbell, 97, a resident of Davenport, passed away Thursday, September 2, 2021, at her home surrounded by her family. Per her wishes, the rite of cremation has been accorded. A private memorial service will be held. She will be laid to rest in her hometown of Exline, Iowa, alongside her husband, her daughter and many other family members.
Carletta Marie Campbell was born March 21, 1924 in Exline, Iowa, a daughter of Virgil and Chloe (Johnson) Walter. She married Robert Rex Campbell on March 1, 1942. Carletta enjoyed her affiliations with the American Legion Auxiliary and the Royal Neighbors of America. She enjoyed and looked forward to family get togethers, Church services, holidays and decorating, listening to music, playing cards, board games, and bingo and especially winning! She loved to cook and bake and was well known for her homemade pies and breads.
Carletta loved making her homemade beef and noodles for her Montgomery Ward Employee get togethers. She made many friends who became like family to her in the almost 24 years of residing at Spring Village.
Those left to honor Carletta’s memory include her children, Lana Fiems, Casa Grande, AZ, Ronnie (Jane) Campbell, Casa Grande, AZ, Carolyn (Jack) Rosenthal, Moline, Vicki (the late Mike) Welch, Rock Island, Phil (Denise-Mitchell) Campbell, Rock Island, Penny (John) Nelson, Casa Grande, AZ, Melanie (Steve Bartelt) Smallwood, Davenport, Lisa (Mike) Norris, Taylor Ridge, IL, Coulter Campbell, Rock Island, and Andrea Campbell, Casa Grande, AZ; 20 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, daughter and son-in-law (Marsha and Pat Shifflett), brothers, Delbert and Marvin Walter, as well as an infant brother, Grandson Stephen Fiems, Great Grandson, Kaleb Shondel and son-in-law, Mike Welch.
