

Funeral services for Carmi D. Francis, 68, of Davenport will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Davenport. Burial will follow at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 27 at the Cunnick-Collins Mortuary in Davenport. Mr. Francis died on Friday, June 23rd at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf following a brief illness.Carmi Dean Francis was born on January 15, 1949 in Ottumwa, IA, the son of G. Hayes and Betty (Hufford) Francis. After graduating from Davenport Central High School he enlisted in the United States Army. He married Dorathy “Dottie” D. Gravert on September 16, 1972 in Davenport. Mr Francis was employed as a transportation specialist at the Rock Island Arsenal retiring in March of 2012.Carmi was a long time member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Davenport and was an avid Cubs, Hawkeye, and Cincinnati Reds fan. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed giving back to the community frequently donating vegetable produce to the Cafe on Vine. His most special time was spent with his granddaughter Emma Rose.Surviving members of the family include – his Wife: Dottie; 2 Daughters: Amy Francis and Laurie (Derek) Schaefbauer both of Davenport; a Sister: Carol (George) Pajunen of Bettendorf; and a Brother: Carl (Stacy) Francis of Moline; 3 Grandchildren: Emma, Allie, and Bret; and a Great-granddaughter: Teagan.He was preceded in death by his parents, Hayes and Betty.Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church.The family would like to express a special note of thanks to the staff at Genesis East ICU and also to the staff at the Clarissa C.
