Carol Lynne Faeth

Visitation will be held Friday, December 19 from 12:00pm to 2:00pm, with funeral service to follow at 2:00pm at Runge Mortuary in Davenport, Iowa. Memorials may be made to the Eldridge Fire Department or St. Jude's Children’s Hospital.

Carol was born on February 3, 1941, in Ft. Madison, Iowa to Charles Bertlshofer and Mary (Cormick) Bertlshofer. She lived in Donnellson, IA, graduating from Donnellson High School in 1959. She was united in marriage to Jerry Pumphrey in 1961. He preceded her in death in 1965. She later married David Faeth on September 9, 1967, in Ft. Madison, IA.

Carol and Dave shared a cherished and devoted marriage for 58 years. Together, they built a life rooted in love, companionship, and unwavering support for one another. They enjoyed fishing trips to Canada, time spent with family, and the simple joys of everyday life living in the North Scott Community for over 50 years. Rarely apart, Carol and David were truly partners in all things, and their enduring bond was a beautiful example of love and commitment.

Carol lived a life centered on faith and family. She was very strong-willed women who instilled that in others. She was deeply devoted to those she loved and found her greatest joy in being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a die-hard Cubs fan, sharing her love for the game with all she knew. Carol was her family’s favorite cook and made sure her famous recipes would live on for generations by creating a family favorite cookbook. Carol enjoyed the simple things in life, a warm cup of coffee, gardening, the Iowa Hawkeyes, a good book and her church community.

In her younger years Carol worked as Office Manager at Burnham & Gagliardo Family Dentistry for 23 years. She met each patient with a smile and made lifelong friends from the office.

Carol is survived by her husband, David Faeth; her children, Brent Pumphrey (Diane), Jill Shively (Barry), and Jodi Faeth; her eight grandchildren, Brianne Fleming (Michael), Kayla Christenson (Tad), Kyle Swarm, Brooke Witthuhn (Alan), JD Pumphrey (Jessica), Brady Shively, Carlie Schoenauer (Hunter), and Charlie Wolfe; and her seven great-grandchildren, Ava Johnson, Ben Christenson, Everett Christenson, Wesley Johnson, Gavin Christenson, Madelyn Johnson, Boston Schoenauer and her newest namesake baby Caroline Shoenauer. She is also survived by her siblings, Jude Hunsaker (Ron) and Edward Bertlshofer.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Charles and Mary Catherine Bertlshofer, husband Jerry Pumphrey and her siblings, Chuck Bertlshofer, Joann Reid, and Debbie Burghoffer.

Carol will be remembered for her warm smile, unwavering loyalty to family and positive outlook. Her legacy of love and compassion will live on in the hearts of her family and all who knew her.
