Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Monday, October 10, at the Runge Mortuary, immediately followed by a celebration of life. Memorials may be made in her honor to Hospice Compassus.
Carol was born December 30, 1942 in Chicago, IL to John and Jeanette (Jaeggi) Parker. She graduated from Dubuque Senior High in 1961. She married Howard Venden on June 22, 1968 at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Carol worked in the office at Von Maur and retired from Juvenile Court Services in 2002. She was an advocate for children in foster care and served on the foster care review board after she retired.
Carol loved to read, play cards, and going out for breakfast, lunch and dinner with her friends. She enjoyed going to CASI Fitness Center to exercise and socialize with her friends there. Carol was an avid bird lover and was known as the ‘bird lady’. But most of all, she loved her family.
She is survived by her husband and best friend, Howard; children, Larry (Jill) Venden, Davenport, IA, Tamara (dec. Norwood) Steffen, Cambridge, WI, and Terri Venden, Cambridge, WI; grandchildren: Jenna (Mike) Cooksey, Ryan (Jessica) Venden, Travis Venden (Angela Langston), Cailea (Chris) Fox, and Garen Showers; great grandchildren: Kain Cooksey, Parker Cooksey, Ryleigh Venden, Connor Venden, Jayce Venden, and Berric Venden, Aden Venden; brothers, Robert (Mary) Parker, Canada, and Tom (Patti) Parker, Dubuque, IA; sister, Debbie Ramos, San Marcos, CA; and sister-in-law, Carol (Don) Moe; along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister-in-laws, Clarice, Betty, Joan, and Doris; brother-in law, Bobby Venden; and grandson, Kyle Venden; along with her many feathered friends.
