Carole gained her golden wings on Saturday, July 27, 2024, peacefully at home after a brief illness. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 6 at 12 p.m., with the funeral following shortly after at 1 p.m. at Weerts Funeral Home in Davenport. Carole was born in Davenport, Iowa, to Bernice and Arthur Cartee on December 20, 1940. She graduated from Davenport High School in 1959. Carole fell in love and married Leon Walker on June 20, 1959. From this union came Jeff, Becky, Natalie, and Jamey. She was a very hard-working stay at home mom "helping" Leon run the household (actually she ran the household). After the kids were in school, she had several different part-time jobs working for Eagle Signal, Manpower, QC Times, AT&T, and Westside Assembly of God.
Carole was a loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister-in-law, neighbor, and friend. Her family was her most prized possession. She raised her children and helped raise her grandchildren. She organized and prepared dinner for weekly "Family Night" get-togethers. Carole loved surprising her grandchildren with their favorite toy, Beanie Baby, or treat. She was also very supportive of sporting events her family were involved in and attended as many as possible. She was spiritual and close to God, a great cook, and loved decorating her home. Carole must have been related to Santa Claus because she also loved Christmas and went all out with decorations and many presents for everyone (and everyone had to have the same number of presents). Playing the slots at the casino and Bingo were a couple of her hobbies, and she always had a Pepsi in hand. Even though she was a sweetheart, she was also feisty like the Fruitcake Lady from the Jay Leno show.
Those left to remember her are her children, Jeff Walker, Natalie Walker (Kurt Youngs), Jamey Walker all of Davenport, and Becky Quast (Bob) of Blue Grass; grandchildren, Jase Trondson (Kellie) of Bettendorf, Lacey Trondson (Bret Wolfram) of Blue Grass, Hailey Walker of Davenport, Brandon Walker (Rachel) of Davenport, Savanna Quast of Blue Grass, and Evan Walker of Walcott; great grandchildren, Emery Trondson, Rowan and Bayler Wolfram all of Blue Grass, Corinne and Alec Trondson of Bettendorf, and Isaac Walker of Davenport. She is also survived by sister, Patty Gillam of Bettendorf; in-laws, Bob Walker (Kerry) of Texas, Kay Dooley of Florida, Sue Walker of Blue Grass, and Don Walker (Sandy) of Texas; and many nieces and nephews.
Carole was preceded in death by her parents, Bernice and Arthur; husband, Leon; brother, Al Cartee (Shirley); and many in-laws.
