

Carroll K. Feuerbach, 87, of Ponce Inlet, Florida, formerly of Bettendorf, passed away at his home on Saturday, September 14, 2013. A funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, September 20, 2013 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 417 North Main Street, Davenport, Iowa. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 PM Thursday, September 19, 2013 at the Runge Mortuary. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors provided by Walcott American Legion 548. Memorials may be made to McAnthony’s Window at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church or Humility of Mary Shelter. Online condolences can be left at www.rungemortuary.com. Mr. Feuerbach was born January 26, 1926 in Stockton, Iowa, a son of Elmer and Lulu (Koch) Feuerbach. He was a World War II Veteran of the Army Air Corps. On August 30, 1947, he married Mary Wampfler in Davenport. Mr. Feuerbach graduated from Davenport High School in 1943 and served in the Army Air Corps during WWII. After returning to Iowa, he farmed outside of Davenport until moving to Moline, Illinois in 1957. Mr. Feuerbach was the owner and operator of several Carroll’s Dairy Stores in the Quad Cities and Des Moines during the 1960’s and 1970’s. Also in the 1970’s and 1980’s, he was one of the owners of I-80 Investments Corporation which operated Truck-O-Mat truck washes and truck scales in the midwest. Mr. Feuerbach, along with the Moon family, was instrumental in the growth and development of the CAT Scale Company. CAT Scales eventually grew to dominate the truck scale industry. He served as the president of the CAT Scale Company until his retirement in 1996. His memberships included Walcott Community Club, Moline Optimist Club and Polka Club of Iowa. He enjoyed dancing, traveling and playing cards. Survivors include: his wife, Mary; children and spouses: Jackie and Cliff Meyer, Ponce Inlet, FL, Jim and Marlene Feuerbach, Georgetown, TX, Joan and Jeff Clough, Coal Valley, IL, Joel Feuerbach, Ripon, WI, Jon and Julie Feuerbach, Colorado Springs, CO and Jill DiOrio, Winchester, MA; 14 grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; two brothers: Lee Feuerbach, Walcott and Louis Feuerbach, Durant; and numerous nieces and nephews.
