Cathleen J. Cahill, 71, of Blue Grass passed away on Monday, July 22, 2024 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House. Per her wishes, she will be cremated. A Memorial visitation will be held from 1-4 pm on Friday, August 2, 2024 at Weerts Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House. Cathy was born July 23, 1952 in Dubuque, IA to Lavern and Marlene (Siegert) Brimeyer. She graduated from Wahlert High School in 1970. She earned her Bachelor's degree in English, with a minor in Journalism, from Iowa State University. She married her high school sweetheart, John Cahill, on June 2, 1973 in Dubuque. After 51 years of blissful marriage, she has moved on to a more peaceful setting. She worked for Bettendorf Schools in various roles. Cathy's passions and hobbies included family, friends, golfing, weaving, boating and gardening. She loved and cared for her family and always made them her top priority.
Cathy is survived by her loving husband, John; daughters, Jennifer (Joe) Gavan of Centennial, CO. and Jacqueline Cahill of Montgomery, AL; grandchildren, Ryan Gavan and Aiden Gavan; siblings, Carol Halverson, Barb Menzel, Sue O'Brien, Dennis Brimeyer and her mother, Marlene.
She was preceded in death by her father.
