Charlene J Bateman

Charlene J. Bateman, 91, of Davenport, went to be with her late husband on February 8, 2018. There will be private family services with burial at Davenport Memorial Park. A celebration of Charlene’s life will be held in the spring. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to a local charity of your choice.

Charlene was born in 1926, on the family farm in Gratiot County, Michigan to Helen and R.G. Sherman. Following graduation from high school she was united in marriage to Russell E. Bateman, he passed away in 2000. She was active in the Eastern Star, Madison PTA, and she was a volunteer with Genesis Hospice. Following their retirement, Charlene and Russell enjoyed wintering in Florida. Family was very important to Charlene and she greatly enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Those left to honor Charlene’s memory are her daughter Christine (Jim) Curtis; granddaughter Lisa; great-grandchildren: Craig and Emma; granddaughter Lori; great-grandchildren: Amanda (Victor), Andrew, and Ryan; her son Russell (Sandy) Bateman; granddaughter Emily; great-grandchildren Kamryn, Talan, and Brynnley and granddaughter Rachel; great-grandchildren Wyatt, Randilynn, and Rhett; sister Ethel Andersen and brother Fred Sherman. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, grandsons Michael Groves and Bernie Deghand, and brothers Francis, Richard, and Roscoe.
