

Dr. Charles F. Elmendorf, 64, longtime Davenport physician, passed away July 8, 2016. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 13, 2016, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 417 Main Street, Davenport. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 12, 2016, at the Runge Mortuary. Burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Dr. Charles Elmendorf Memorial Fund, to be used for construction of a home for underprivileged families in Jamaica. Donations may be sent to Wells Fargo Bank 707 E. Dr. Elmendorf served in the U.S. Army as a captain, where he received his medical training. Dr. E was a graduate of Des Moines College of Osteopathy. He practiced for four years at the Rock Island Arsenal and continued his career in private practice until the time of his death. Dr. E was a member of the American Osteopathic Association and served twelve years as Resident Director at Davenport Medical Center where he had also been Chief of Staff. Chuck married Bobette Stewart on April 28, 2007. They enjoyed traveling, especially to the Caribbean. Survivors include his wife, Bobette, four children, Jennifer Quigley, Emily Lightbody, Angela Elmendorf and Nicholas Elmendorf; five grandchildren; brothers, John Elmendorf and Joseph Elmendorf; sisters, Eleanor Elmendorf and Rita Haines and numerous nieces and nephews. Dr. Elmendorf was preceded in death by his parents, John and Eleanor Elmendorf, and a sister, Theresa Carroll.
