Christopher "Chris" John Ackerman

December 20, 1969September 29, 2019

Christopher “Chris” John Ackerman, 49, entered into eternal peace to be with his loving grandparents on Sunday, September 29, 2019 in Davenport.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at 2pm in the Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be Wednesday from 12pm until 2pm at the mortuary. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Friends are invited to wear Hawkeye gear or black and gold in his honor.

Chris was born December 20, 1969 in Davenport; the son of Jack and Connie (Conger) Ackerman. He graduated from Davenport North High School before following his grandfather’s footsteps and serving his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps (1989-1993). After returning to Davenport, he worked for the City of Davenport Street Department until his passing.

Chris’s two biggest loves in life were his family and watching Iowa football and basketball. Watching a game with him was definitely an experience in itself. He lived through every touchdown and three pointer. Chris loved Iowa so much you could say his third love was watching Iowa State and Wisconsin lose.

He had no greater joy than spending time with his family. He remained a devoted son to his parents and a best friend to his brothers and sister. However, no uncle loved his nephews and nieces more than Uncle Chris.

Eric (Thasha), Mary (Jared), Christopher, Alexis, Andrew, Ashley, Eryn, Lauren, Leighton, Ava and Jordin were the light of his life. Scary movies, concerts, sporting events and unlimited candy were all part of the agenda when spending time with Uncle Chris. He never missed a football, basketball or softball game as he traveled the country ensuring they all felt the love and support he provided.

Those left to cherish and honor his memory include his parents, Jack and Connie, Davenport; sister, Barb Schuldt (Tray), Moline; brothers, Mike (Lynn), Davenport and Shane Conger (Becky), Watertown, SD. He is also survived by aunts, Sunny (Bill) Horstman and Nancy (Matt) Puck along with cousins, Kelli (Joe) Akers and family and Kyler (Julie) Soucinek and family.

I remember chris always had an iron maiden shirt or album (ya we're old) with him, and he was the only person that ever got me into them back in the days at 2001 CCE (the bad kid school lol).
