

Christopher R. “Rudy” Wegener, 63, of Walcott, IA, died Saturday, November 24, 2012 in Walcott. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at 1:00 pm at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Blue Grass. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4-8 pm at The Runge Mortuary with a prayer service at 8:00 pm. Burial will be in Walcott Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family. Chris was born March 17, 1949 in Davenport, the son of Nyle and Anna (DePorter) Wegener. He married Pamela Hare on June 9, 1979 in Alexis, IL. He served in the National Guard for four years.
Chris worked as a sheet metal worker for Local #91. He served his apprenticeship at Schebler Company and then later worked for Brook Company. He retired from Climate River Valley in 2007.
He was a member of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church. He enjoyed his three “breakfast clubs”, spending time with family and friends. He also belonged to the Riviera Car Club and loved to restore old gas pumps and antique cars; especially the 1950 and 1960’s models. His greatest joy was spending quality time with his son, Luke.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Pam, Walcott; son, Luke (Lyndsey) Wegener, Walcott; a grandchild due in March 2013, who he was greatly excited to meet; his father, Nyle, Blue Grass; brother, Cary Wegener, Blue Grass, IA; sisters: Connie (Larry) Ewers, Blue Grass, Candy (Ron) Harlan, Blue Grass; Corrine (Kevin) Flenker, McCausland, IA and Cindy (Mike) Ewers, Charlotte, IA; numerous nieces and nephews, his beloved dog, Suzi and his dear friend, John Penne, Blue Grass. His mother preceded him in death.
