It is with great sadness that the family of Cindy Mikla announce the emerging of her heavenly wings on October 31st, 2024. Cindy passed peacefully in her home in Davenport, Iowa after many years of battling COPD.
Cindy was born July 24th, 1956 (Davenport) to Betty (Bell) and William Hansen; her siblings included brothers (Rod & Randy Hansen) and sister, Pamela Hansen. Cindy met her first true love, Richard Mikla (Milwaukee) and they Married on September 26th, 1981, spending 28 years together and creating two children before divorcing in 2009. In 2012, she met her second love, Russell Grubbs and they shared her remaining years together.
Cindy’s journey was one of motherhood; starting in 1983 (Portland, OR) with the birth of her son Christopher Mikla and 1986 (Hickory, NC) with the birth her daughter, Jennifer Mikla. Cindy was the most exceptional and extraordinary mother not only to Chris & Jennifer but all of their friends as well. Her children described Cindy always being there, never missing anything, and the mother everyone wished for. While most children out-grow spending time with their mother, Cindy was always invited first and knew everything first. She loved fiercely, fought fiercely, and sometimes a little wayward and wild, everyone always had fun spending time with her.
Cindy exceeded her role as a mother when she became a grandmother to Jennifer’s children. Hunter (2014), Hayes (2014), Hayesleigh (2015), & Huntleigh Hitchcock (2017). She was so extravagant they created the special name of “Bambi” just for her.
Cindy was also a tremendous Mother & grandmother to many fur babies. She considered them as family and completely spoiled just like the rest. Recent fur babies included: Zoey, Stormy, Marley, and Ren.
Cindy will continue to protect and live on through the memories she created with her children, grandchildren, fur babies, and loved ones.
Cindy was proceeded in death by Hayes Hitchcock, Zoey & Stormy, Betty & William Hansen, Randy Hansen, and Richard Mikla.
