On June 16, 1936, Clair was born to parents Franklin and Lila (Patterson) Odell in Marshalltown, IA. After graduating high school, he married the love of his life, Alice Fox on June 18, 1955. Clair continued his education, graduating from Westmar College and Dubuque Theological Seminary. He went on to become a minister and served various congregations for over 45 years. Clair had two traits that made him just right for ministry; he was caring and devout.
When Clair wasn’t focused on ministry, he enjoyed listening to old country and bluegrass music that he’d play from his collection of records. An avid reader, he also enjoyed crossword and sudoku puzzles, playing dominos, woodworking, gardening, and sipping on a good batch of wine.
Those left to carry on Clair’s legacy include his beloved wife, Alice; children, Martin (Barb) Odell, Karen Crees, and Paul Odell; grandchildren, John (Jody) Petersen, Heather Petersen, Jeremy (Jenny) Crees, and Angela (John) Pacha; great-grandchildren, Clara, Caleb, Blaise, Cooper, Drew, Chase, and Cole, and many beloved friends.
Clair was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Jan Bell, and his siblings, Cherryl and Dennis.
