Clara L. Platt

Clara L. Platt, 90, of Davenport, passed away on Friday, August 28, 2015 at Genesis East Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at 12:00 pm at The Runge Mortuary. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Our Savior’s Kvindherred Cemetery, Calamus, IA. Memorials may be made to the Scott County Humane Society. Online condolences may be left at www.rungemortuary.com.

Clara was born September 21, 1924 in rural Scott County ; the daughter of John and Hazel (Faler) Voss. She was united in marriage to Lester L. Platt on December 7, 1956 in Davenport; he preceded her in death on August 29, 2014. She worked as a bartender for several Quad City area businesses prior to her retirement. She loved playing cards, especially poker and always had a joke to share. Her greatest concern was her family, including her extended family and she loved spending time with her grandson, Brandon.

Those left to honor her memory include her children, Lyle (Lisa) Wiggins and Deborah Allchin; grandson, Brandon Wiggins; sisters: Shirley Brink, Marjorie Brooks and Velma Spurrier; brothers, David Voss and LeRoy Voss and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a sister in infancy.
