

Clifton "Max" Crane, 96, of Bettendorf, IA passed away at home on Tuesday, December 19, 2023. His funeral service will take place 2pm Saturday, December 23, 2023 at Weerts Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 12 p.m. and conclude at the time of service. Cremation rites have been accorded after the services. Max was born on November 24, 1927 to Clifton and Ruth (McCleary) Crane in Winterset, IA. Max attended Davenport High, where he graduated in 1946. He enlisted in the United States Navy and served for 2 years. Max began his career as a laborer on the Alcoa construction site. He was the former Production Supervisor/Management Training Administrator. He worked at Alcoa for 37 years before retiring in March of 1986.
Max joined Betty (Vens) in married union in 1948, she passed in 2002. Max united in marriage to Christine (Van Note) in 2004 in Bettendorf, IA.
Max enjoyed painting and tending to the yard and his prize roses. Max also enjoyed cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes. Max was an avid bass fisherman and hunter. For more than 60 years he traveled to Brainerd, MN and fished Gull Lake, especially his honey hole in Wilson's Bay and came home to tell his fish stories until the next year's trip.
Survivors include his loving wife, Christine; children, Peggy (Terry) Schone, Carol (Richard) Feldpausch, Michael (Lori) Crane, Cindy (Dennis) Schone, Matthew (Lori) Crane, Jon Haller, Samantha Haller; 20 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Max was preceded in death by his parents; 4 sisters; first wife, Betty, and a beloved son, Stephen Crane.
