

Colette Marie Vesey, 58, of Davenport passed away Friday February 19, 2016 peacefully in her home with her husband by her side. Services and celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 26th at The Pentecostal Church of God, 1234 Ripley Street, Davenport, IA. The family will greet friends at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary on Thursday evening from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m., with a time of sharing beginning at 6:00 p.m. Colette was born on May 7, 1957 in Moline, IL, the 5th child of Arthur & Nadean (Matthews) Hayslett. From a young age Colette was active in her church, holding positions as teacher, secretary, and program director. Colette graduated from Central High School in 1975. From 1979 to 1999 she worked for John Deere Insurance Company. She continued to work for Sentry Insurance until her retirement in 2009, for a total of 30 years service. In 2012, Colette began working part time in the Customer Service Department for Von Maur, until November 2015. Colette married Alvin Glen Vesey on June 21, 1980. After suffering three miscarriages Colette & Glen welcomed three children, Alvin II, Christian, and Corrine. In 2008, Colette was diagnosed with breast cancer and chose to battle the disease in private with the support of her loving husband and children. She is survived by her loving husband, Glen Vesey; her children, Alvin (Lona) Vesey of Davenport, IA, Christian Vesey of Iowa City, IA, Corrine Vesey of Silvis, IL; her grandchildren, Amir, Joy, Janiah, Aliviona, Jordyn, Alvin III, Jillian, and Ariah; her Mother Nadean Hayslett, her sisters, Celeste (Ben) Rodgers of San Martin, CA, Renee (Michael) Johnson of Gilbert, AZ, Annette Hayslett of Bethesda, MD, Alma Garner of Gilbert, AZ, Lori Hayslett of Las Vegas, NV, & Crystal (Herman) Randell of Phoenix, AZ; her brothers, Allen Hayslett of Gilbert, AZ, Bishop Richard (LaTosha) Hayslett of Davenport, IA, Russell Hayslett of Gilbert, AZ, Ivan Hayslett of Gilbert, AZ, Kitrell (Danielle) Hayslett of Gilroy, CA; special friends, Sadie Anderson, Joanne Jackson, Cle Rowe; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her cherished father, Elder Arthur Hayslett; her sister, Merry Carol Jones; and brother, James Leon Hayslett. Memorials may be directed to Genesis Hospice or to ‘Always A Woman’, a boutique in Moline dedicated to the needs of women with breast cancer.
