Curt was born March 19, 1935 in Springfield, IL to Russell and Eileen (Hill) LeGrand. He was raised in Monmouth, IL graduating from HS in 1953. He served in the U.S Army Finance Corps from 1953 to 1956 with time spent in Korea. Curt graduated from Western Illinois University in 1960. He married Patricia Estes in 1960. Curt did volunteer work in the Patient Finance office at Genesis West Campus for five years and 10 (or more) years at the Bettendorf Genesis Pain and Spine Clinic. He enjoyed doing “easy” crossword puzzles, tooting on the harmonica and golfing. Curt had a hole in one once, but when asked about it, he confessed it was on the wrong hole. He enjoyed changing greetings on the answering machine and always ended each call with “Thank ya. Thank ya very much.” He felt a “close” relationship with Elvis since they were born two months apart in 1935. He was an avid fan of the Hawkeyes, the Chicago Cubs starting in 2015, and the Chicago Bears (sometimes). Curt was a member of the Asbury Methodist Church.
