I was very sorry to read of Dale's death. I first met him in the 1970's when he supervised our graduate students and then he was one of our graduate students. He was a wonderful person who respected others, had a great sense of humor, and was a very skilled and professional school psychologist.

I remember saying goodbye when I left for Texas in 1981 and when I returned in 1987 he was still there.

Judy you always had a great sense of humor and there were plenty of laughs with you and Dale at garage sale time. 

Dale was a true professional, and always a delight to work with. He was one of  the original school psychologists I met when I first started working at the Muscatine AEA office many years ago.  It was so obvious how much he loved Judy and Emma, he positively glowed talking about them.  Dale really knew his stuff and willingly shared his knowledge with others, often with a crazy bit of humor.  He was one of a kind, and will truly be missed.



I am saddened to hear of Dale's passing.  I worked with him at MBAEA9 and also at P. V. Jr. Hi. for many years.   He was a School Psychologist of the highest caliber.   He was a gentle soul, who loved his family and I considered him a friend.

Dale was my mentor and friend throughout the years, first as a guide and mentor when I started with the AEA as a school psych way back in 1987,  and then up through our times together as head psychologists with the AEA until his retirement. Talented in so many ways, with a sense of humor and a gift for guiding others that was truly admirable, and with a strong ethical core and sense of duty that didn't waiver from supporting staff and advocating for students. Emma, there wasn't a time that when  we met to talk work issues that our conversation didn't take a turn and we started talking about you and his love for you. I worked with Dale at the AEA and then found out we were sort of related as we were married to cousins. He was a level head at the AEA and very easy to talk to. He left a void when he retired. My heart goes out to you Judy. Nothing prepares us for losing our husbands too soon. It may help to know Dale was well liked and respected. Lean on your family and take care.

I worked for many years with Dale.  He was our school psychologist at Wilton schools.  He was a beloved colleague and very often a friendly ear for the frustrations of a beginning special education teacher.  His kindness and sense of humor were priceless.  In later years whenever I ran into him he always talked about his family with such joy and pride. We would swap stories about raising daughters.  I am sorry for your loss but I also know he left you with many memories and those are blessings.

Judy, what a loss.  I wish I could repay all Dale and you did for us.  He was so willing to help when the kids lost their Dad.  I'm sending big hugs until Tuesday.  I'm as close as your phone if you need anything. Praying for comfort and peace for all. Alice

Dale is a member of what has become a rare breed of man. The kind of man who served his country, worked hard, paid his bills and loved his family intensely and unwaveringly.  By any meaningful measure, he is truly a success.  I admire him greatly and I am grateful that he considered my wife, kids and I as part of his family. Dale will be greatly missed. His death seems horribly unfair. Instead, I feel the world would be much better if it had more Dales in it. It is with great respect that I say goodbye to my friend and brother. Thanks Dale, you were always there when we needed you most.

Dale was my supervisor during my early years as a school psychologist.  He was so welcoming and made me feel confident in my skills as a young professional. I learned a lot from him. I am so sorry for your loss. He had such a big heart for everyone ♥️

I worked with Dale at the AEA for a number of years, sharing Wilton Schools a number of years ago.  He was the most genuine man/professional I have ever met in my over 35 years of working in psychology.  As department head, he directed us with compassion for us and our students, understood issues thoroughly, but was honest in his appraisals of situations.
I appreciated his soft demeanor, but also the way he could be firm when needed.
He has been missed since his retirement by those who knew him.  My condolences to his family.
