Visitation will be Friday December 30, 2022 from 4-7 pm at The Runge Mortuary. Memorials may be made to the family in her honor.
Services will be Saturday December 31, 2022 at 12 pm at the mortuary. Burial will be private in Durant Cemetery.
Darlene Elizabeth Schwarz was born February 23, 1931 in Davenport, Iowa, daughter of Alfred (Art) and Lillie (Jurgens) Schwarz. Darlene grew up on the family farm south of New Liberty, Iowa.
She graduated from Davenport High School in 1949. She married Robert H. Specht on December 23, 1950. They started married life in an apartment in Bettendorf and in 1953, they purchased their first home in the 5 Points area of Davenport and finally built their dream home in the Probstei area in Davenport.
Her primary job was wife, mother, aunt, and daughter to her family. She was the main caregiver to all. She did have various jobs during her life including being the bookkeeper and gofer for her husband’s Mobil Service Station. She and her husband enjoyed traveling to many countries and making friends.
She is survived by her daughters, Rita Specht and Sharon Flaherty, nephew Doug (Brenda) Schwarz their children Dustin and Madison. Todd (Julie) Schwarz, their children Allison (Jake) Lambrecht and Aaron, and niece Tiffany (Scott) Walker.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Art and Lillie Schwarz, husband, Robert Specht, brother, Dale Schwarz, son-in-law Norman Flaherty and great-nephew Kyle Schwarz.
