Darren James Hess

Darren James Hess, 48, of Davenport, Iowa passed away unexpectedly due to ongoing health issues on Friday, February 14, 2025. There will be a visitation to honor Darren’s memory on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, from 4-6pm at Weerts Funeral Home. Darren was born on August 14, 1976, to Gary and Angela Hess in Davenport, Iowa. He was a 1994 graduate of Bettendorf High School where he was a member of the Diving Team. Darren was united in marriage to Amanda (Amy) Hartwig on May 3, 2004, in Jamaica. He loved to draw and passed that love onto his son, Holden; he even had a piece go on display in Chicago. Darren loved music and going to concerts with his family and dear friends Pat and Mellissa. He enjoyed playing floor hockey, watching Chicago Blackhawks hockey, Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, and the University of Iowa Hawkeye Football team. Darren loved to travel, especially if the destination included the ocean where he could swim and scuba dive. His favorite holiday was the 4th of July and he loved lighting fireworks out at the Beaman farm with Russell and Jane Hartwig, JD Jones (son Jameson), Sam Hartwig, Grant Jones (Miranda Jones), Elsie Hartwig, and late grandparents-in-law Bill and Linda Beaman. He worked at IMEG for more than 25 years in electrical design.

Those left to honor Darren’s memory are his parents Gary and Angie; son Holden James Hess; wife of 20 years Amanda; sister Tamarha Hess-Adams; brothers Jeremy, Brian, and Landen; nephew Gage; niece Aria; aunts Mickie Hess and Lorena Thomas; uncle Larry Paul; dear friends Pat Wood and Mellissa Klostermann Wood, Russell and Jane Hartwig and family.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Louverne James and Wilma Hess.
