Daryl was born on May 24, 1955 to Donald and Norma Vondra in Hazel Green, Wi. Daryl grew up on several farms in southern Wi. One farm that he lived on was in his family for 3 generations. Daryl learned to milk cows, bale hay and do many other farm tasks. Through it all he found that he definitely did not want to be a farmer. He decided fixing cars fit his temperament much better. He loved taking things apart and putting them back together. After attending technical school, he went on to a fulfilling career at Jack’s Brake and Alignment where he worked for 47 years. Daryl worked as a mechanic and was very knowledgeable about diagnosing issues with old cars. He rebuilt and restored old cars and belonged to many car clubs, restoration and mechanics groups. He was especially proud of his ‘46 Studebaker.
Daryl was a kind gentle soul who loved to travel and do photography. He loved riding his Harley motorcycle and took many trips out west and riding the Tail of the Dragon in North Carolina. In addition to his love of cars, he enjoyed building models and partaking in a model car club as well as a model airplane club and Mopar club.
Daryl is survived by eight siblings, Lester (Julie) Vondra of Lancaster WI, Barbara (William) Ballard of Georgetown, KY, Donna (Michael Smith) Vondra of Stoughton, WI, Diane (Sal) Toro of Piedmont SC, Kathy (Donnie) Smith of Duncan SC, Lon (Nancy) Vondra of Moncks Corner, SC, Patrick (Bev) Vondra of Swartz Creek, MI, and Jeanne (Dale) Byers of Easley , SC.
