David was born on September 16, 1943, in Davenport, IA to Peter & Mary Ann (Wiemann) Thies. He was united in marriage to Beverly Ann Nissen March 2, 1974, in Rock Island, IL. She preceded him in death on September 17, 2021.
David served in the US Navy from 1966 to 1969. Following is his discharge from the military; he attended the University of Iowa and later graduated from St. Ambrose College with a degree in accounting. He operated his own accounting firm, Thies and Associates, for over 20 years.
David called Bingo for over 30 years for the Lions Club, served on the board for many years with the Children’s Therapy Center, enjoyed golf and was in the same golf league for over 50 years.
Survivors include Son David (Abbie) Thies Jr.; sister Connie (George) Judt; and nephew Jason (Larissa) Judt.
David was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and daughter Carrie.
