David W. Thomsen

David W. “Tex” Thomsen, 67, of Davenport, passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at University Hospital in Iowa City. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 am Saturday, May 7, 2011 in the Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be from 4-6 pm Friday at the mortuary. David worked as a truck driver and a machine operator for several demolition companies in the Quad City area. He also farmed in the Atalissa, Iowa area for a number of years and enjoyed horses and classic truck restoration.

Survivors include his mother, June Thomsen of Calamus, Iowa; daughter, Shelly Lapinski of Flower Mound, Texas, son David Kevin Thomsen, also residing in Texas; three grandchildren; five great grandchildren; sister Jan Grimm of Calamus, Iowa; brothers Bruce Thomsen of Portsmouth, Virginia and Dale Thomsen of Calamus, Iowa; companion Dorothy Pierce and close friends Rob and Carol Reed and their children and special friend Don Harrington.

He was preceded in death by his father, William “Tex” Thomsen, brother William and sister Cheryl.
