He graduated in 1975. He attended the University of Iowa on a BIG 10 athletic scholarship for baseball and earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in business.
He had a son Bradly James from his first marriage to Susan Smith of Davenport. They later divorced after which then he started a new life with Karen Langhammer. They were married on May 15, 1993.
He worked for his family business, Ryan Construction, and later owned and operated his own company, Hawkeye Construction. He retired in 2018. Pud loved to hunt with his beloved dogs. Later in life, he and his wife Karen spent many happy years fishing and golfing together. He found pleasure in his yard work and if anything was needed in the home he would build it and was the consummate perfectionist in all that he did.
Pud kept active in his baseball career playing for the 76ers and Quad City Silver Bullets, an over-30 baseball league. He helped them advance to several semi-finals in the Men’s Senior Baseball World Series.
Pud had a good sense of humor and had fun nicknames for all his friends. He loved watching sports and supported the Iowa Hawkeyes, Chicago Cubs and the Green Bay Packers. He adored his 2 grand-daughters and cherished the time he spent with them.
Those left to treasure his memory include his wife of 32 years, Karen, son, Bradly (Christina) Ryan, Bettendorf and their daughters, Harper and Cami, his dog, Gunner along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends, too many to name.
