Dennis R. Ahrens

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at 1 pm at the Davenport Elks Lodge. Memorials may be made to the family.

Dennis was born in Davenport, IA. He was the son of LeRoy and Betty (Endorf) Ahrens. He married Denise Carter on June 7, 1988 in Davenport. He worked as a cement finisher for the Local Union #18 from the mid 1980’s until his retirement in 2022.He was an avid volunteer for Big Brothers/Big Sisters and for the

Children’s Charity Fishing Tournament in Albany, IL.

In his free time he loved to fish, play softball on area leagues, watch his granddaughter Brooklyn play basketball and grandson, Carter play baseball, eating beef jerky from “The Olde Meat Smokehouse,” but, his favorite was a bowl of chocolate cake with milk poured over it.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Denise, daughters, Julie (Mike) Joiner, Davenport, Amanda (Chris) Baxa, Compton, IL; grandchildren: Kailynn, Hannah, Carter, Brooklyn, Devin, Dillon and Madison, four great grandchildren, daughter, Nicole (Clayton) Batchelor and family of Davenport, sister, Connie Nank, Davenport, brother, Alan (Kathy) Ahrens, Colona, IL, numerous nieces and nephews, along with his beloved dogs, Sadie and Maggie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter, Madison, several aunts, uncles and cousins and his first dog, Maui.
