

Funeral services celebrating the life of Denzil (“Hap”) Wood, 84, of Greer, SC, formerly of Davenport, IA, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 26, 2010 at the Cunnick-Collins Mortuary Chapel in Davenport. Burial will follow at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the mortuary. Mr. Wood died on Wednesday, April 21, 2010, at The Gardens at Eastside Assisted Living – in Greenville, SC. Denzil Glenn Wood was born on January 24, 1926 in Goodman, MO, the youngest son of Jim and Martha (Parman) Wood. Following his high school graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy where he served during WWII. He married Mary Lou Clark in Oswego, KS in 1946. She preceded him in death on July 11, 1997. Mr. Wood worked for many years for the former Iowana Farms Dairy as a delivery man. He later worked as a security guard at Scott County Court House, before retiring and moving to SC in 1994. Hap enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and gardening.Survivors include –2 daughters: Janis (Tom) Gow of Greer, SC and Deb (Norm) Dvorak of Davenport; 4 sons: Ron (Jan) Wood of Prosperity, SC, Dennis Wood of Dallas, TX, Terry Wood of Ft. Myers, FL and Randy (Gail) Wood of Davenport; 15 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.In addition to his wife Mary, Hap was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, a sister and a grandson.In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made in his memory to the Alzheimer’s Association or to a favorite charity.
