My deepest condolences.  Steve, even though me and you don't speak anymore...  your Mom was a cool cool lady.  She loved her kids thats for sure.  She was always really great to me and I loved landscaping her yard with you a few times.

We would complain about our IPhones wish we had our Samsung phones back. How family tricked us into the i phone world.   We also joked about Trump ALOT.   Laughter was truly a gift she definitely perfected❣️

Diane was a huge fan of Caitlyn Clark. She told me she had a black pug with a little white under its chin, called Meggy.

When I approached Diane at the hospital she said there is my little Lo Lo.  Diane then asked me if it was alright to call me Lo Lo. I said absolutely my mom use to call me that. Truly warmed my heart,  I had not heard that in decades.

This is what I wrote for Mom’s Memorial Service.:  We gather here today to honor our mom, Diana Lynn Dempsey-Messer and to celebrate the love she brought into every life she touched.
Mom was the best cook I’ve ever known. Her biscuits and gravy were legendary—comfort on a plate, made with a generous heart and years of perfecting. She made it look easy.  But it wasn’t just the food. There was always a fresh pot of coffee on in the kitchen, and the table was open to anyone who needed a place to sit, talk, and feel at home. That kitchen table was one of her favorite gathering spots—where problems were shared, stories were told, and hearts were lifted.
Her superpower was her quiet strength. In a noisy world, she moved with calm grace, offering a hot meal, a listening ear, and a steady presence that made everything feel okay. She didn’t need to raise her voice to lead or to love—she simply showed up, day after day, with unwavering strength wrapped in gentleness.  I’ll miss arguing with her about whether Whitey’s was better than Dairy Queen, and her less than serious glare when I insisted pugs were mutants not meant for this world. Those silly debates were some of my favorite moments—full of laughter and gentle teasing.
She loved her family deeply, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was so proud of how many there were and took great joy in every one of them. To her family, she was our comfort and our gathering place. To her friends, she was the one you could always count on for good food and even better conversation.
Today we grieve the empty chair at that Kitchen table, but we give thanks for every biscuit, every cup of coffee, every conversation, every quiet act of strength, and every playful argument we shared. Her love fed us in more ways than one, and it will continue to nourish our lives for as long as we live.
Mom, thank you for feeding our bodies and our souls, and for showing us what quiet strength—and a good laugh—truly looks like.

I wanted to share some reflections on Diana—or Diane, as I knew her. She was a strong, soft-spoken woman with a wonderful sense of humor, and I will always cherish the many memories we created together over the years.
I was especially fond of our “girl’s days,” whether we were out for lunch, shopping, or catching a matinée. Some of my favorite afternoons were spent simply talking over coffee and donuts at Hurt’s, relaxing by the pool, or working on a puzzle in the office. We always enjoyed each other’s company, even as we unsuccessfully tried to solve the world's problems.
Beyond the fun times, I witnessed her incredible resilience during more difficult moments. Throughout the ER visits, hospital stays, and medical appointments for Jerry, she remained a pillar of strength. Her courage during his health challenges was truly remarkable.
I will miss her deeply, and I feel truly blessed to have called her my friend.
