Dolly E. Pillar

Dolly E. Pillar, 85, of Davenport passed away Friday, February 22, 2013 at the Kahl Home, Davenport. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, March 1, 2013 at the Third Missionary Baptist Church in Davenport. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church. Burial will follow at Pine Hill cemetery in Davenport. Online condolences may be shared at www.rungemortuary.com. Dolly was born September 19, 1927 in Walnut, MS to German and Leona (Blake) Gibbs. She was united in marriage to James Pillar on December 17, 1954. James preceded her in death on March 21, 1996. Dolly had been employed for 20 years with Wonder Bread Bakery in Davenport prior to her retirement. She was member of the Third Missionary Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. Her love was cooking and sharing it with her family and neighbors. Family gatherings were very special to her; she was a loving mom, grandma and great grandma who was deeply dedicated to her family. Survivors include four daughters Sheila Gibbs, Guttenberg, NJ, Jacqueline Chatman, Davenport, Darlena (Rickey) McBride, Davenport, Pamelia (Ricky) McBride, Hawthorne, CA; a son James Pillar, Jr., Rock Island, IL; 11 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; two brothers German (Christina) Gibbs, Davenport and Eugene (Mary) Gibbs, Charleston, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends. Dolly was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, and brothers.
