

Donald Ray Williams, Sr., 79, of Walcott, died Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at the Kahl Home in Davenport. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at 10:30 AM at Cedar Memorial Church in Davenport. Visitation will be Friday from 4-8 pm at The Runge Mortuary. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Per Don’s wishes, memorials may be made to World Vision International, a Christian organization to feed hungry children. Donald was born March 1, 1934 in Numa, Iowa, the son of Fred and Mary (Bertelli) Williams. He was united in marriage to Doris Martz on December 14, 1952 in Ottumwa, IA. He worked as a tool designer at Swan Engineering in Bettendorf and then later worked and retired from Caterpillar in Mt. Joy. He also had owned and operated Amy’s Ice Cream and Don Williams Tax Service.
Don was one of the founders of Emeis Little League and loved to go fishing at his cabin on the Wapsi River. He loved mushroom hunting, gardening, baseball and good food. He was an actively involved member of his church and loved watching his children and grandchildren’s events. He deeply loved his wife of sixty years.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Doris; children: Cindy (Kye) Johnson; Spin (Mindy) Williams, Jeff (Jessi) Williams and Amy (Matt) Coleman; seven grandchildren; five great grandsons; brother, Bob (Molly) Williams and sister, Judy (Don) Butterbaugh. He was preceded in death by his parents and sons Terry and Matthew.
