Dear Jack, Jill, John, Scott, and Families,

I just wanted to share with you my feelings about my Aunt Donna.  I have some specific memories about Donna - I remember her teaching me to brush my teeth with the toothbrush making little circles, I remember ice skating down at Credit Island, I remember a Christmas gift of an ice rink - one you put up in the yard in the winter and fill with water.  She gave me little gifts and trinkets (a lot of Avon) every time her mother (Gram or Granny) and I came to the Clark Street house.  I remember her at my wedding shower, wedding, baby showers, and coming to my home to celebrate her brother - my dad and mom's - surprise 40th wedding anniversary.  Of course, along with Donna came my Uncle Jack.  Always asking, "How are you Liss".  

Our families may have not spent too much time over the years, once the kids, grandkids, and great grandkids started coming, but whenever we got together - we all just picked up where we left off!  

I know you all are going to miss her so much.  We will too, but we will mostly remember what a funny, kind-hearted person she was.

I was so sad to hear about Donna.  Although I had not seen her for several years, I will always treasure the time that she and Esther watched our boys, Nick and Jimmy, at your home on Clark St.  It made it so much easier to go to work knowing that I had someone who would not only care for them, but care about them. She was always able to put a fun spin on all situations.  She was truly a special person.

Dear Jack, Jill, John, Scott, and family, 

I'm so sorry to hear about Donna, my Mom called me late yesterday with the news.  

Growing up with Scott was filled with many memories of Donna's laugh, she always found something to laugh at-and there were plenty of opportunities.  When I think back on Donna’s attitude regarding discipline and rules, it was one in which there were definite boundaries, but she gave Scott a lot of freedom to be creative.  

For instance, it was the early 70’s and what was hot?-renovating the basement!  As you might guess, Donna was on the leading edge of this phenomenon.  Well, after a few years, Scott annexed the basement and made it his.  I couldn’t believe that he was able to do that.  I was jealous; after all, the extent of my creative freedom was…I don’t know..being allowed to put up a poster on the outside door of my bedroom?   You have no idea of how many ways a young man could layout his room.  It’s awesome to think that that passion and drive is still alive and well in the kids as they launch from one home project, to the next.

Aside from her great laugh, she also had an extremely even keel approach to parenting.  Her peaceful, confidant, control of life, is a one of the greatest strengths that she passed on to her kids.

Married at Holy Family, like me, Jack and Donna always seemed very close.  As difficult as it is now, may the warm memory of Donna’s chuckle, and your living legacy, be something that you can one day smile and casually attribute to your “Mom,” or you’re “Honey.”

Peace Be With You!

As a Curves member for over five years now, I have many happy and fun memories of Donna. She always made me look forward to exercise!! And I will also remember how she supported the Animal Shelter when we had any fund-raising event.  We were all so  blessed to have her in our lives, but then you know that.  My thoughts and prayers are with you.  Carol Hicks

I worked with Donna for years.   She always made work fun.   We would sneak away at lunch time and go to the boat to hit the slot machines.   Several times, we came back with money, once we won $300 and always split it.  Donna had a great sense of humor, and we would laugh all the time.   I will miss her.   There was no one else like her, and she was a sweetheart.   I am so glad I knew her.

We just wanted to let you know how sorry we are on  your loss of Donna.  She was a pretty special lady and we know that you will all miss her very much.  We are all thinking of you during this sad time.  The Slagles
