

Per her wishes, cremation rites were accorded, and a private burial service will be held at a later date in Manning Iowa.
Runge Mortuary and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
Dorla was born in Manning Iowa, the daughter of Daniel and Olivine (Hunter) Eckley.
She married Kenneth Rohde of Wall Lake, Iowa, in Presque Isle, Maine, where he was stationed with the Air Force. They became parents of three children.
He preceded her in death in 2016.
Following graduation with the Manning class of 1947, Dorla worked for the Dultmeier Mfg. Co. locally, then in its Omaha sales office. She retired as an administrative secretary, as she had most of her working career.
Accompanying her husband on his stateside military assignment in Maine, Dorla worked on base as secretary to the flight surgeon and later continued her computer training.
Even in her elder years, she never lost the fascination of the computer. To become "computer proficient" long was her goal, and she accomplished much in that area up until her death.
She and her husband enjoyed traveling and were in Ireland when the tragedy of 9/11 occurred. Getting home proved difficult and curtailed their interest in future overseas travels.
After retirement, they spent several winters at their Texas home where thy took Spanish lessons, learned tutoring and played golf.
Reading, card playing, and dancing were other favored activities.
Dorla dearly loved dogs and always had one near whenever possible.
Those left to honor her memory include a daughter, Dixie, of Davenport, son, Drew, of Arkansas, and granddaughter, Rachel of Kansas City. A son, Thad, predeceased her in death in addition to her husband and parents.
