Dorothy “Jean” McKinney, 94, of Davenport, died on Friday, August 21, 2026, at Ridgecrest Village. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am on Friday, August 28, at the Ridgecrest Village chapel, Davenport, with visitation starting at 9:00 am. Burial will be at the Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Ridgecrest Foundation.
Jean was born October 16, 1931, to Lawrence A. and Alma McCarty in Lake Township, Muscatine County. She attended St. Mary’s Elementary School, and graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1949. Jean later graduated with a BA degree from Avila College in Kansas City, MO, and a MA from Seattle University in Seattle, WA.
Jean was united in marriage to Gerald R. McKinney in 1983.
Survivors include her nieces and nephews, her sister-in-law Jennice McCarty, and her dear friends Chris and Dixie.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brothers, Thomas, Robert, and James McCarty.
