Earline M. Henning, 75, of Eldridge, Iowa passed on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at Genesis East Medical Center. A service to honor Earline’s life will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at 12 PM at Cunnick-Collins Event Center with a visitation before starting at 10 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Earline’s name to SmileTrain, Special Olympics, National Wildlife Federation, or Riverbend Foodbank.
Earline was born on April 2, 1947 to Earl and Ethel Henning (McKee) in Davenport, Iowa. For 39 years, she taught French and Spanish at Clinton High, retiring in 2008. She earned her undergraduate degree in Foreign Language Education at Northeast Missouri State College. In 1992, she earned a Master's degree in French from the University of Northern Iowa. During her career, Earline received several awards including two from the National Endowment for the Humanities to study French language and culture at Purdue University and French literature at the University of Wyoming. In 1996, she received the Stan Reeves Gold Key Award from Clinton Community Schools. She was an active member in several education organizations. Earline loved to travel, discuss American culture and politics, and participate at her church, Immanuel Lutheran in Clinton, Iowa.
Those left to honor her memory are nephews Matthew (Nicole) Stroupe and Chris (Cinda) Ohl, nieces Julie McPherson and Wendy Brown; great-nieces Aylynn Nodeen and Nicole (Josh) Slonaker; great-nephews Colton Stroupe, Daniel McPherson, and Sean McPherson; great nephew Xavier Slonaker; and brother in law Harry Stroupe as well as many friends including William Michaelsen and Char Keppy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Margaret, Beverly, and Mary; a nephew, Robert Ohl; and great niece, Karaley Ohl Warman.
