Edna L. Holst

Edna L. Holst, 95, of LeClaire, IA, died Tuesday, May 6, 2014. Funeral services will be Friday, May 9, 2014 at 11:30 AM in the Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be Friday from 9:30 – 11:30 AM at the mortuary. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a children’s charity of your choice. Edna was born in Scott County on October 3, 1918. She was the daughter of Henry and Mary Ricklefs. She was united in marriage to Herbert Holst on October 5, 1939 in Davenport and celebrated 70 years together living on the family farm.

Edna was active in the Rebekah Lodge and organized card parties in Long Grove and Princeton for many years. She and Herbert enjoyed dancing to the music of Lyle Beaver and his band who played for many of their birthday and anniversary celebrations.

Those left to honor her memory include her sisters, Marg Perez and Darlene Schnoor; her sons, Wayne (Mary Ann) and Robert (Heidi) both of LeClaire, and Harlan (Valerie), Chicago; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Judy Holst, of LeClaire; and many nieces and nephews.

Her parents; husband, Herbert; son, Ronald; sister, Ann Steward; brothers, Donald Ricklefs and Walter Ricklefs; and grandson, Dakota Holst preceded her in death.
