Edward Kaufmann

Edward John Kaufmann, 81, of Le Claire, died on June 24, 2026. Visitation will be held Thursday, July 2, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Weerts Funeral Home. His funeral service will be Friday, July 3, at 10:30 am at Trinity Lutheran Church in Pleasant Valley, with visitation time starting at 9:30 am. Memorials may be left to Trinity Lutheran Church Pleasant Valley and the family.

Edward was born in Davenport on December 11, 1944, to parents John and Olinda (Tonn) Kaufmann. He graduated from Pleasant Valley High School in 1963, later attending Scott Community College to get his CDL. He went on to work in general maintenance at Case for 5 years and Caterpillar for 17 years, before retiring as a City Bus driver after 19 years.

On March 27, 1976, Edward married Carolyn Kitzmann at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Davenport. The couple had one son and shared 50 loving years together. Edward was a private pilot and spent his free time flying. He was also a big reader and could be found reading the newspaper from front to back when it came.

He is survived by his wife Carolyn Kaufmann; his son Matthew (Veronica) Kaufmann; his brother Arnold (Diane) Kaufmann; his sister-in-laws Mary Kaufmann and Bonnie (Gary) Spedl; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded by his parents John and Olinda Kaufmann, and his siblings Roberta Lorenz, Joyce Caldwell, and Jon Kaufmann.
