Davenport, IA Funeral services for Edward J. Martens, 87, of Davenport will be 10:30 am Saturday at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary. Family will greet friends on Friday from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Mortuary. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery, Davenport, where military rites will be conducted by the American Legion #26 Cunnick-Collins Mortuary and Cremation Service in charge of arrangements.Edward passed away on Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at the Good Samartian Care Center, Davenport.Edward J. Martens was born on September 9, 1922 in Davenport, the son of Edward and Mary (Mackin) Martens. He worked as a Plumbing Inspector for the City of Davenport. He also worked as a Health Inspector for Davenport, retiring in 1987. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.He was a member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion #26. He also enjoyed bowling, the outdoors, hunting and fishing. Survivors include his sister; Margaret Loter of Davenport, nephews; Dana Loter and David Loter, both of Davenport, and a special friend; Betty Bell.He is precded in death by his parents, Memorials may be made to the Good Samartian Care Center, Davenport.
