OBITUARY

Edwina Cheryl Keim

March 18, 1947March 23, 2020

Edwina Cheryl Keim, 73, of Bettendorf passed away with her family at her side in Bettendorf on 23 March 2020 after a lengthy battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held at a later date. Online condolences may be left at www.rungemortuary.com

On 18 March 1947, Edwina Tinker was born the youngest of three sisters on their family farm on Devils Glen road in Bettendorf. She loved talking about the happy experiences of growing up on the farm. The love of nature and pragmatism she cultivated there, shaped who she was throughout life. When Edwina was raising her boys she lived in many places throughout the midwest and south but in the late 1980’s she decided to move home to Bettendorf to be closer to family. Edwina was a trained paralegal and she worked in insurance for many years.

A follower of Jesus Christ, Edwina worshipped at Bettendorf Presbyterian Church which is the same congregation that her parents Edwin & Vivian Tinker attended. Edwina was a patriot who loved her country and was proud to have her youngest son Jeff serving in the Air Force. Her oldest son Tommy's accomplishments in art were a source of great interest and pride as well. After retirement, Edwina followed an adventurous path. She boldly traveled the world with trips throughout Europe and Asia. Recently Edwina visited New Zealand with her beloved granddaughter, Hannah. Edwina lived cleanly, loved wellness and her lifestyle and health was an inspiration to all that knew her.

Edwina is survived by her two sons Thomas, (wife, Elena and their daughter Hannah), and Jeffrey, (wife Jill and their children Anna, Jack and Lauren) Sisters Sandra Tinker and Patricia Bergman (husband Steve)

Like many others, Bob and I had not known Edwina was ill. We had many fun adventures together, back when we were both single. We had common backgrounds and many shared interests. We will miss her.

I grew up just up the road from Edwina and her family farm. My siblings and I would spend a lot of time during the summer playing at her farm. She was a good friend during high school and was always nice to everyone. She will be missed. So sorry for your loss Pat and Sandy

I am so sorry to read of Edwina's passing. I do not have Sandy's or Patricia's addresses since they no longer belong to DAR. Will you please let them know they have my deepest sympathy and are in my thoughts and prayers. Edwina always had that beautiful smile on her face, such a sweetheart. May God keep you in his embrace at this difficult time. Loretta Siebke

Edwina was a class act. She recently made me lunch at her home - it was all healthy and homemade. I felt so nurtured by that. She took responsibility for doing all she could to be in the best possible health. I will miss her wisdom and sharing. My sympathies to those who loved her. Know that she impacted many with her grace.

Edwina and I met through the Silver sneakers exercise classes at the Bettendorf Family YMCA. She introduced me to her sister Pat during a chair yoga class. Edwina was easy to talk to, friendly and I looked forward to visiting with her!
On one of the last times we ran into one another at the Y, one of the lenses of her glasses had fallen out. She was wearing the glasses with one working lens and was on her way to her car to find the missing piece! We went to lunch several times on Fridays with a group of other Silver sneakers buddies! Rest in Peace Dear Edwina--- you will be missed!

I met Edwina in the silver sneakers class at the Y. She was always such a happy person. She was good at keeping in step with the instructor while many of us fumbled around. Enjoyed having lunch with her with the after exercise group. She will be greatly missed by many.
