

Elizabeth A. “Midge” Downey, 79, of Davenport, passed away Thursday, April 10, 2014. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 14, 2014 at 11:00 am at First Christian Church in Davenport. Visitation will be Monday from 9:00 am until 11:00 am at the church. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the church. Midge was born November 15, 1934 in Iowa City, IA, the daughter of Clarence A. and Mary P. (Knight) Perdue. She was united in marriage to John Kraklio, whom preceded her in death. She then married Donald L. Downey on February 14, 1990 in Davenport.
She worked for Montgomery Wards and later for AAA specializing in clerical work. She was the perfect mother and grandmother who loved her family unconditionally. She touched the lives of so many and would give freely her time to help those in need. She was a great seamstress and enjoyed needlepoint, crocheting and quilting. She was a member of First Christian Church where she sang in the choir for fifty years. Midge had a great passion for music.
Those celebrating her life include her loving husband of 24 years, Donald; sons: John (Wanda) Kraklio and Steven (Dawn) Kraklio; daughters: Sharon (Gary) Bockholdt; Donna (Jeff) Angstrom and Jennifer Downey; twelve grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; siblings: John, Albert, Robert and Lola and numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved very much. She also is survived by a life-long friend, Shirley Thomas. Midge was preceded in death by a daughter, Vickie, grandsons, James and Kevin and sisters, Marta and Myrt.
