Skip was born on September 20, 1941, in Davenport, IA to Ernest & Eileen (Dunn) Carstens. He was very proud to have served in the US Marine Corps from 1960 to 1964. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Joan Lirette, for over 61 years. He had been employed for numerous years as a salesperson with Adel Wholesalers prior to retiring to enjoy time with family.
Skip was an avid Iowa Hawkeye and St. Louis Cardinal fan. His favorite past time was visiting the casinos and watching old westerns.
Skip is survived by his wife of 61 years Joan; daughter Michele Carstens; son Chris Carstens; brother Mick (Pam) Carstens; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Skip was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Jerry and Bob, and a sister Mabel “Jean”.
