Services celebrating her life, as well as her husband Frank Allinger, 79, also of Richardson, TX who passed away Saturday, August 21, 2021, will be Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at 2 pm at The Runge Mortuary. Visitation will be Tuesday from 12pm until the service at 2 pm. Their final resting place will be in Glendale Cemetery in LeClaire, IA. Evelyn was born in Nichols, Iowa on March 15, 1935. She was the daughter of Lee Carney and Frances Wagner. She met the love of her life, Frank Allinger, while bowling and went on to marry him, on April 21, 1972. Frank was born in Davenport, Iowa on April 3, 1942 and was the son of James Allinger and Wanita Nares. Frank had been working at the Quad City Times for many years as a private contractor.
Evelyn started her career at Wonder Bread, first in the packaging department then served as the lead role in the distribution center in shipping. She went on to serve for 26 years and retired in 1990. She had a strong work ethic and was an amazing wife and mother.
She attended all of her children’s baseball, softball, bowling games and tournaments, as well as club and school events and was an avid bowler herself. Frank was also an avid bowler, bowling his first 300 Game shortly before meeting Evelyn. Both Frank and Evelyn were on several area leagues, Evelyn even serving as captain and enjoyed traveling with the teams for tournaments over the years. Both loved traveling with their family around the country visiting nearly every state. Frank and Evelyn loved to dance, especially ballroom dancing and going to Western concerts at the Davenport Masonic Temple. They also enjoyed watching professional baseball in which Evelyn was a St. Louis Cardinals fan and loved the rivalry with her husband, Frank, being a Chicago Cubs fan.
Those left to honor their memory are their children: Brian (Judie) Winters, Cherry Valley, IL, Melonie (Brock) Heckel, Rockford, IL , Gary (J.R.) Allinger-Duran, Richardson, TX ,as well as Craig and Sandy; 11 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; Evelyn’s brothers: Junior Carney, Davenport, Ron (Judy) Carney, East Moline and Butch (Lynn) Carney, Davenport, Frank’s sister: Cathy Davis, Lincoln, NE, and Sister-in-law Rosie Allinger, Cedar Rapids, IA, several nieces and nephews; and their beloved grand-dogs, Tygar and Lillee. In addition to their parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Tom “Tommy” Carney and he was preceded in death by a brother James “Jimmy” Allinger.
