

Evelyn E. Andresen, 89, of Davenport passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at Genesis West. Funeral service will be at 10:00 am on Monday, November 21, 2016 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Davenport. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on Sunday, November 20, 2016 at the Runge Mortuary. Burial will be in the Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Handicap Development Center, Valparaiso University, or St. Paul Lutheran Church. Online condolences may be expressed by visiting www.rungemortuary.com. She was born on September 2, 1927 in Brooklyn, NY the daughter of John and Elvira (Drexel) Omiecienski. Evelyn was united in marriage to Wayne Andresen on June 12, 1949. He preceded her in death on November 11, 2003. Evelyn graduated from Valparaiso University and earned a Master’s Degree from Augustana College. She was a teacher for over 30 years in the Davenport School System at both Smart Jr. High and West High School. Education was very important to her and she passed that value on to her children and grandchildren. Evelyn enjoyed traveling with her husband and especially enjoyed traveling to Seattle to visit their son and his family. Evelyn and her husband loved taking care of their vegetable garden, feeling rewarded from the harvest. She enjoyed music and was a regular season ticket holder to the Quad City Symphony for many years. She adored her family and loved spending time with them, especially her grandchildren. She made a point of attending family birthday parties, student concerts and children’s athletic events. Evelyn spent many hours teaching her daughters how to sew and made quilts and cross stich for her grandchildren. Evelyn’s love of dogs began in childhood and continued her whole life. Her memberships include: Valparaiso University Women’s Guild, Board of Handicap Development Center, support board at the Putnam Museum, American Association of University Women, Women’s Circle at St. Paul Lutheran Church and Davenport Area Retired Teachers Association. She volunteered at Ridgecrest and Madison Elementary School and was active at CASI
Those left to honor her memory include her children: Barbara (Walter) Donat, Batavia, IL, Dr. Rebecca (Michael) Wiese, Davenport, John (Sandy) Andresen, Bellevue, WA and David Andresen, Davenport; grandchildren: Edward (Aracely) Donat, Katherine (Vince) Iturralde, Joseph (Ashley) Donat, Michael (Jessica) Donat, Noah Wiese (Katie Knorovsky), Bethany Wiese, Peter Wiese, Christine Andresen, Marie Andresen and Emily Andresen; great grandchildren: Evelyn, Isaac, Lucienne, Serafina, Beckham, Cole, Connor and Franklin; sister-in-law, Doris Andresen; brother-in-law, Grant Andresen; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister Lorraine Driessnack.
