

Evelyn Delene Robinson, 90, of Davenport passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at Good Samaritan. A graveside service will be held at a later date in Westside Cemetery, Giles County, Tennessee. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rungemortuary.com.
Evelyn was born July 31, 1926, in rural Lawrence County, Tennessee, the daughter of George W. and Dora A. (Reeve) Robinson. She was one of nine children, growing up on a farm near Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. She received her elementary and high school education in the public schools of Giles County. During World War II, she and two of her sisters worked for what is now known as the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Oak Ridge, Tennessee to help in the war efforts. In 1948, she received a bachelor’s degree from Tennessee Polytechnic Institute with a major in home economics and a minor in science. She was employed by the University of Tennessee as Home Demonstration Agent for 10 years. In 1960, she received a bachelor’s in Christian education from Bryan College, Dayton, Tennessee. She taught Bible and science in Tennessee and also went on to teach as a missionary in schools in Africa and the Philippines. She was also founder and President of Ministry to Missions in Ozark, Arkansas, which provided assistance to missionary families both at home and abroad. She was a dedicated student of the Bible and enjoyed teaching and writing in order to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ. She was a kind person devoted to family and friends.
Evelyn is survived by her brother, William Charles (Juanita) Robinson and sister, Patricia (Joseph) Dodson along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Daniel Eugene Robinson, Noah Robinson, Lucy Sides, Pernie Brewer, Rosamond Robinson, and Iva Nell Gibson.
