

Felix Poteete Taylor, Jr., 63, of Davenport, passed away Saturday, April 18, 2015 at Genesis East Medical Center, surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be Friday, April 24, 2015 at 10:00 am at The Runge Mortuary. A private family burial will be held at The National Cemetery, Rock Island. Felix was born January 28, 1952 in Bolivar, TN; the son of Felix Sr. and Annie B. Taylor. He served in the U.S. Marines and after his service, moved to Davenport.
Felix got into social work and dedicated himself to helping others. He was employed by many agencies in Davenport including: John Lewis Coffee House, Neighborhood Place, Inc., Family Resources and New Choices, Inc. He loved working with the kids and was a very caring individual that would give his last to someone in need. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren and attending their sporting events. He became saved several years ago and loved serving the Lord. He received his certificate of ordination on March 23, 2014.
He was united in marriage to Sarah Jantz on April 27, 1991; they had five children: Ashley, Garrett, Korey, Max and William.
He is survived by additional children: Tony Herron, Antanas (Christine), Anton (Heather)and Freddie Taylor, Ethan and Felix Miller, Cassidy Reed, Crystal McNeal and Kim Maggio-Taylor; 35 grandchildren; his mother, Annie; sisters: Mae, Faye and Brenda; brothers: Edward, Stacy and Sid and a host of nieces and nephews. His father, brother, Lawrence, sister, Christine, grandson, Marcus and Aunt Odel preceded him in death.
