

Fern LaVon Quick, 83, of Davenport, passed away Thursday, March 10, 2011 at Manor Care -Utica Ridge uniting her with the love of her life, Orlyn. Funeral services will be 1:00PM Monday, March 14, 2011 at the Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be 4-7PM Sunday at Runge’s.

Fern was born December 5, 1927 in Blue Grass, IA the loving daughter of Emil & Florice (Estlick) Butenschoen. She was a graduate of Davenport High. She was united in marriage to Orlyn R. Quick on June 21, 1947 in Iowa City, IA.
Fern had been employed at Iowana Dairy, Palmer College, Federal Bake Shop, and retired from the Rock Island Arsenal. She was a member of Smart Set and Tops. She enjoyed singing and dancing, sewing, crocheting, growing violets, baking and collecting bells. Fern’s most important role was that of mother, grandmother and being greatma.
Those left to honor her memory include daughters: Cheryl (James) Tappa, Bettendorf and Sandra (Scott) Karwath, Davenport; sons: Dan (Jan) Quick, Grayslake, IL, Brian (Kelley) Quick, Davenport; grandchildren: Steven (Martha), James Jr., Robert (Theresa) Tappa, Tonya (John) Marx, Jennifer Chieffo (Jim), Tim (Tricia) Karwath, Holly (Lance) Palo, Andy, Amanda (Denny), Matt (Mellissa), Mike, Rebecca, Alec Quick; Colin and Storm; 13 great grandchildren Michael and Anthony Tappa, Victoria and Benjamin Tappa, Jackson Marx, Gina, Nico and Analisa Chieffo, Gavin and Cole Palo, Dominic and Madison Quick, Miley Lucas-Quick.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Florice; brother, Bernard; sister, Clara Ellice; and her beloved, Orlyn.
