Mrs. Baran, known to most as Flo, was born in 1930 in Pittsburgh, PA, the daughter of Collette and Stanley Balcer. She married Joseph J. Baran on February 12, 1949 in Pittsburgh. He died in 2009.
She worked in the kitchens of several organizations through the years, including the University Club in Pittsburgh and Salem Community Hospital in Salem, OH, retiring in 1992. She enjoyed bowling and crocheting in her earlier years, but her passion was always her family. In recent years she loved going to CASI for exercise, ceramics, theater, and talking to friends. Flo never met a stranger and found the good in everyone; she loved talking to people. She also loved the Lord and read His Word regularly. She was a faithful member of the newly formed Rock Island Bible Church, where she served as a greeter and was loved by all. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to her church or CASI.
Survivors include her sons: Frank(Muriel) Baran of Jacksonville FL, Stan(Eileen) Baran of Orange Park FL, Steve(Liz) Baran of Durham, NC and daughter Deb(Mike) Wulf of Walcott, IA, and grandchildren Jenelle(Sean), Sean, Melissa, Matt(Kim), Jeff, Megan, and Emily, and great-grandchildren Jordan, Laurel, Riley and Ethan. She was also preceded in death by 7 sisters, 3 brothers and a grandson.
