Florence Meinert

Florence Meinert, 94, of Walcott, Iowa passed away on Monday, June 6, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, June 9, 2016 in the Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be from 5-7pm Wednesday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Walcott American Legion or New Liberty Volunteer Fire Department. Florence was born to Henry and Edna (Puck) Heuer on January 31, 1922 in rural Scott County, IA. She was united in marriage to Alvin Meinert on November 29, 1944 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Davenport, IA.

Florence was a farm wife who loved milking cows and gardening. She took pride in raising chickens, ducks and laying hens, which provided eggs to many customers in Davenport. She enjoyed gathering for the neighborhood card club for many years and spending time with her grandchildren. She loved spending the day at the riverboat.

Survivors include sons: Merle (Karen) Meinert, Durant, IA and Leon (Susan) Meinert, Stockton, IA; grandchildren: Stacy

(Tiffiny) Meinert, Tipton, IA, Scott Meinert (Jaclyn Harden), Stockton, IA, Lynn (Tim) Wulf, Wilton, IA, Amy Shelangoski, Durant, IA, Karla (Eddie) Sanchez, Davenport, IA, and Jessica Blackledge, Davenport, IA; great grandchildren: Danyel (Brandon) Koele, Michelle and Denver Meinert, Spencer, Savannah and Finnley Meinert, Jacob and Hannah Wulf, Drake and Lainey Shelangoski, Scout and Rebel Sanchez, Mason and Grace Blackledge; great great grandchildren: Jaxson and Keaton Koele; sister, Nonie Zabel and sister-in-law, Bernice Heuer.

She was preceded in death by husband, parents, sister, Verna (Louis) Rehm and Bernice (Chester “Chet”) Schnack and brother, Arnold Heuer.
