Frances W. (“Francie”) Lipsman (nee Weinstein), age 98, longtime resident of Scottsdale, AZ, and formerly of Chicago, IL passed away on Saturday, August 13, 2022. Francie was born on May 29, 1924 in Chicago, IL to Louis and Esther (nee Kalcheim) Weinstein. She immediately became the adored baby sister to her big brother, the late Alvin I. Weinstein.
Francie was brilliant; she attended Von Steuben High School, then went on to graduate from Northwestern University with high honors. In 1949, she married Bob Gore and with him led a successful small business, South Shore Tobacco, for many years. After Bob’s death in 1973, Alvin “fixed her up” with his old college roommate, Victor Lipsman, a widower from Davenport, Iowa, and they married in 1976. Vic relocated to Chicago, and he and Francie traveled extensively for many years, both for Vic’s business selling men’s topcoats in the Midwest as well as for pleasure throughout the world.
After Vic’s retirement Francie worked as a legal secretary for her brother for many years. She and Vic moved to Scottsdale in 1997, where they made numerous new friends and were close neighbors with her brother and sister-in-law. Victor preceded her in death on May 5, 2009. For the past 13 years, Francie lived independently in Scottsdale and enjoyed playing bridge and participating in numerous activities with family and friends. She was a dedicated and long-time member of Hadassah.
Francie was a loving step-mom to Vic’s three children, Roberta “Robbie” Lipsman (Eric Wright), the late Sam Lipsman, and the late Paulee Lipsman. She was the cherished grandmother of Josh Wright (Kaitlin Kunkler) and Doug Wright, and adored great-grandmother (“Gigi”) of Harper Flinn. Francie is survived by her loving sisters-in-law Joey Weinstein and Florence (the late Joseph) Lipsman, and dear brother-in-law John Meade (the late Diane Lipsman). Francie was also a most beloved aunt to more than two dozen nieces and nephews from the Weinstein, Gore, and Lipsman families, as well as many great-nieces and great-nephews. She left many treasured friends of all ages.
