Francis C. French

Francis C. French, 90, formerly of Coal Valley, IL passed away January 14, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, January 20, 2017 in the Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial with military honors by American Legion Post 26 will be in Rock Island National Cemetery. He was born in Rock Island, IL and served in the United States Military in several branches over a thirty year period. Francis married Vera Thompson. She preceded him in death. He later married Judith Markin. She also preceded him in death.

He was employed by Bendix Corp. prior to his retirement. His memberships include Scott County Rescue Unit and American Legion Post 26.

Survivors include daughters, Terry Ray and Shirley Woodford; sons, Charles French and Bill Crafts; step-children, Dean Devoss and Crystal and numerous grand- and great grandchildren. In addition to his wives, he was preceded in death by a son, Glen “Butch” Crafts.
